En 1959, la Facultad de Ciencias jurídicas y sociales de la Universidad de Chile comenzó la publicación de la Revista chilena de historia del Derecho, que se ocupó de las materias en que el derecho podía ser considerado como un objeto histórico. Su primer director fue Alamiro de Ávila Martel. En la actualidad continua vigente como principal referente para los investigadores de la historia del derecho.
